Why I Chose Design

There are a few different reasons why I decided to delve into the world of design, and I figured I would list some of those things in my blog to show a bit of my journey to where I am now.

The idea came from my Web Design class in my senior year of high school. I had an extremely kind and helpful teacher who inspired me to turn my hobbies into a career. The class was mainly coding and only in HTML, but it made me want to know more. I didn’t, and still don’t, enjoy coding or the process of creating a website, so my teacher suggested pursuing graphic and media design.

I’ve also always enjoyed creating art in all sorts of different ways for most of my life. I enjoy the process of putting pieces and elements together to create something good-looking, whether it be on a device, a canvas, or a sheet of notebook paper.

Along with those other factors, my parents also played a part in my college decision as well. They have always enjoyed and encouraged my love for art and creating/crafting, and helped with picking out schools with good design programs. In conclusion, they were the final deciding factor in what I wanted to go to school for.
