Today in the Portfolio Production Lab, it was my turn to learn how to properly fold, bind, and cut the graded version of our magazines. First, we folded each page in the center, starting with the edges, and using a scoring tool from the center-out to flatten the fold and make it precise. Next, we stapled the pages together at the spine, just a few inches from the top and bottom. The last step was cutting, which we have a machine for. Under the blade, there is a laser to help line up what you’re cutting, once you’ve done this, you shut the glass covering and push the blade down. We did this to cut off the white space on the edges of our prints. After completing my magazine, I switched gears to teach another one of my classmates to do theirs! It was a very educational day!
